The first full trailer for Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead has been released. The film stars the excellent Don Cheadle as the legendary jazz musician, with Ewan McGregor in a supporting role as Rolling Stone journalist Dave Brill.
The plot follows a particularly tempestuous part of Davis’ life and focuses on his relationship with his first wife Frances Taylor Davis, played by Emayatzy Corinealdi.
Cheadle told Entertainment Weekly: “I never thought about portraying him, really. I had done several other quote-unquote biopics and was always struck by the limitations they presented, because they were trying to be historically accurate. So I didn’t want to do another biopic. When I heard the idea, from various people who had played with him, producers, writers, that this could potentially be something, I thought, ‘if the script is great, I would always be open to it since he’s always been a fascinating figure to me’.”
Miles Ahead will be released in the UK on 22 April
