About bloody time. Deftones have stepped up the fevered anticipation for their forthcoming album Gore (due 8 April) by releasing new track Prayers/Triangles.
And it’s flippin’ brilliant. Bearing all of the Deftones hallmarks – a stark contrast of lyrical, sleepy vocals with a fist-in-your-face chorus – it’s the work of a band at the peak of their powers.
Speaking on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, frontman Chino Moreno said: “That dynamic is there as far as that ebb and flow, those parts that go at your throat, but it also has a soothing quality to it. That dichotomy I think is what makes us who we are – it’s sort of our DNA. It’s a good representation of where we’re at.”
